Description
Panadol Extra is an over-the-counter medication produced by GSK, designed to provide fast and effective relief from various types of pain and fever. Each tablet contains 500 mg of paracetamol and 65 mg of caffeine, which work together to enhance pain relief.
Uses
Panadol Extra is indicated for:
- Headaches (including migraines)
- Muscle aches
- Menstrual pain
- Toothaches
- Backaches
- Cold and flu symptoms.
Dosage
The recommended dosage for adults and children aged 16 years and over is:
- 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours as needed, with a maximum of 8 tablets in 24 hours.
For children aged 12-15 years, the dosage is:
- 1 tablet every 4 to 6 hours, not exceeding 4 tablets in 24 hours.
It is not recommended for children under 12 years.
Precautions
- Contraindications: Not suitable for individuals with hypersensitivity to paracetamol, caffeine, or any excipients in the formulation.
- Overdose Risk: Paracetamol overdose can lead to severe liver damage. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. Immediate medical attention is required if overdose is suspected.
- Caffeine Content: Caffeine can cause side effects such as insomnia, nervousness, and increased heart rate. Users should avoid excessive intake of other caffeine-containing products while using Panadol Extra.
